PostHeaderIcon Do a lot of people see massage as a luxury or for health/wellness benefits?

Some may not think much of massage therapy. I just want to know if anyone believes in its helpful qualities.
The stigma that comes with it isn’t fair to me. Some people are legit and shouldn’t be put into the suggestive category of sexual favors. I’m talking about people who actually see the physical benefits behind massage…

The benefits of massage extend beyond the physical. Massage is unique in that it provides tangible stimulation through touch.

Many people have reported cathartic experiences during a massage. Just as a massage unwinds tired and stressed muscles, it also may very well unwind repressed emotions that are not processed during a hectic day. In addition to reducing anxiety, massage has shown success in:

Fostering peace of mind and feeling of well-being

Promoting a relaxed state of mental alertness

Improving ability to monitor stress signals and respond appropriately

Enhancing creativity

Increased awareness of the mind-body connection

Improving employee performance and creating higher job satisfaction and morale

Benefits of Massage
Dilates blood vessels, improves circulation and relieves congestion.
Disperses the edema following injury to ligaments and tendons, lessens pain and facilitates movement.
Improves digestion and elimination.
Calms the mind. Promotes emotional balance and a sense of well-being.
Tones and relaxes the body and facial muscles which makes for a more youthful appearance.
Stimulates the nerves and reflex points throughout the body.
Helps to prevent muscular stiffness after exercise.
Acts as a "mechanical cleanse", stimulating lymph and hastening the elimination of wastes and toxic debris.
Relaxes muscle spasm and relieves tension

PostHeaderIcon i want to start a home based business in health and wellness industry?

somewhat like mlm.
anyone got an idea what should i be looking for?

there are probably a few things you must consider before joining any mlm company.

Remember – look for a company who is looking for products to sell, and not for people to sell their products.

usually this is the whole thing that makes all the difference between a scam company and a good profitable company.

PostHeaderIcon Why is approaching health and wellness from a global perspective an important focus for today’s health and wel?

health and wellness

Health and Wellness at a global level is not about just the availability of medical care and medications for everyone who is in need of these services, it is also about responsibility for higher standards among companies which manufacture food products sold around the world. It extends to companies making nutritional supplements and pharmaceuticals.

Medical research is already global and to an extent, results are shared worldwide. Research must be capable of being duplicated. There is a system of checks and balances. But this same system does not extend to the quality of medical care throughout the world nor does it extend to the way large companies have pawned off inadequate baby food/formula products on third world nations in order to make a profit. Nor does it extend to the huge amounts of money exchanged in negative nutritional value products which find a wide market in the USA.

The cost of health care is not the only issue facing the individual, the employer, the state/the country and the world, the cost of lack of wellness is extraordinarily expensive. For example in the UK alone, absence from work in one year costs 12 billion pounds or $18,706,208,602.49 USD.

Costs of prescription medications vary tremendously not just around the world but even within the US which means that for many people, medications even though really important for treatment, are beyond the reach of so many people despite health insurance or medicare.

Disease spread so rapidly in this era of rapid international travel. There is no way for one country to feel that they are isolated from endemic levels of HIV, hep B & C, and tuberculosis. While tropical disease may be contained and travelers protected. While other conditions such as heart disease, cancers, diabetes and obesity, and diseases of aging are more common to modern cultures, the contributory lifestyles spread worldwide.

What is important is that the approaches are not confined to governments, to medical associations but also to the multinational companies who have a responsibility to their shareholders but also to the world. While the companies need to lead the world in developing global health strategies, the shareholders need to be able to recognize that the long term gain may have to be larger than increasing dividends…and this is a difficult hurdle but it does need to be surmounted. Not to mention that multinational companies have employees worldwide and have a responsibility to be able to provide some equal care for all employees.

What is needed at all levels is continuing consumer education, decreasing unhealthy lifestyles, being able to support the costs of health care (as they rise faster than inflation). Finding ways to address the rising number of retired workers and those who are unable to work. Those numbers grow as people live longer.

This is a topic for books and long articles but one last thing. Cultural sharing is also very important in a global approach to health care and wellness. Western medicine profits brom a blend of therapies from around the world. This means that there must continue to be an open-minded approach to medical education and to continuing education for all medical professionals. It also means that patients must continue to be proactive not just for their poor health but also to maintain their good health.
